Egg-cellent work for Tameside Hospital’s young patients
It is always nice to see a feel-good story, and especially one which Tameside Hospital is linked with. Kind hearted staff from Stagecoach Manchester’s Ashton depot played Easter Bunny for a day and donated over 230 chocolate Easter Eggs to the Children’s Ward at Tameside Hospital.
Bus driver Martyn Dunkerley organised the collection and visited the children’s ward with his colleagues to present the chocolate eggs to youngsters too poorly to enjoy the usual Easter activities such as egg hunts. This is the fourth consecutive year where Martyn has egged his colleagues to bring in Easter treats for the patients. This year, they have donated more eggs than ever.
Talking about the collection, Martyn said: “Each year I am constantly surprised by the drivers’ generosity, which means this year we were able to put a smile on even more children’s faces. It is really heartwarming to see how much cheer chocolate can bring.”
Angela Upsall, play specialist coordinator at Tameside Hospital, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the Ashton depot for their generosity. The children were so excited to receive the eggs and it made our Easter weekend even more special.”
Christopher Bowles, MD of Stagecoach Manchester continued: “We always encourage our staff to support local causes and it is fantastic to see how successful the collection has been, I am sure the children will enjoy tucking into the eggs.”
