For the sixth part of It’s Up the Poll! 2015, we shall be looking at the only party to stand in all of Tameside’s nineteen wards and all three constituencies. Plus all three wards of Mossley Town Council.

Designed for Android devices, it improves upon its predecessors thanks to new personalisation features. With a smartphone or digital tablet, its users can plan their trip anywhere, anytime in just a few taps.

Seen in Oldham bus station whilst operating the Saturday daytime service. Today, Stagecoach Manchester run the 343’s evening, Bank Holiday and Sunday journeys. Stott’s Tours also run the Saturday daytime service alongside its weekday journeys.

 

With Catch the Bus Week only next month and recent cuts to our services, the travails of passengers who have 51 more Catch the Bus Weeks are getting a fairly raw deal. So much so we need to publicise the joys of socially important yet sometimes overlooked services.

From the fourth part of It’s Up The Poll! onwards, we’ll be looking at the policies of each of the parties standing in Tameside. Not only the main three parties but also Independent candidates. In all three elections taking place in the borough. For each party and independent candidate, we shall focus on sixteen policy areas.

• Greens and UKIP to stand in all three of the borough’s constituencies;
• Stalybridge and Hyde seat likely Tory target.

For the last 30 years, you could always count on Tameside being staunch Labour territory in the parliamentary elections. Ashton-under-Lyne was always associated with Robert Sheldon, hence the name of the arterial road on Ashton Moss and the public house. Stalybridge and Hyde, and the Denton and Reddish seats, equally so.

• Present council: 5 Independent, 4 Labour.

The people of Mossley will also have the joy of receiving three ballot papers. As well as the Tameside MBC local elections and the General Election (where Mossley falls under the Stalybridge and Hyde constituency), there is also the Town Council elections. The whole council is up for election.

• Greens only party other than Labour to field candidates in all wards;
• Close runs likely in Droylsden East and Denton South wards;
• Tameside’s first Communist Party of Britain candidate to stand in Audenshaw;
• Former Tiger stands in Hyde Newton.

A chance to keep the ship steady or effect real change. Depending on your viewpoint, this year’s local elections is set to be an interesting one. As well as tireless campaigning on the streets from Tameside’s Labour and Green parties, the rest of the pre-election campaigning seems to be conducted online. The present incumbents within the 57 member council are facing opposition from social media sites.
