A concert of two halves with a swinging second half

Was it really two years ago since Skelmanthorpe Band’s previous concert at the Boarshurst Band Club? During the 23-month hiatus since their previous gig at The Mecca of Brass Banding, the Championship Section band of the Skelmanthorpe band community has changed musical directors. They have recently returned to the Championship Section. One thing that hasn’t changed since their previous soiree was entertainment value. With a mix of traditional concert pieces and a swinging second half, they had that by the bucketload.

Another great night with Jim Davies and Co. at the Boarshurst Band Club

Boarshurst Band Club, the Brass Vegas of the North, has played host to the good and the great of brass banding, from its present home since 1979. Almost a year after his previous appearance at Boarshurst, Jim Davies gave us another great concert to remember. It was one that gave us some good technical pieces, four memorable solo performances, and the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest winning song.

Fantastic night with virtuoso cornet legend

Only weeks after a former Manchester United manager came to the Boarshurst Band Club, another legendary figure came to call last night. This time, one of brass banding circles rather than football. On Sunday 27 November 2016, virtuoso cornet legend, Jim Davies came to Boarshurst Band Club with Skelmanthorpe Band.
