On the 15 May 2016 [Whit Sunday], we were happy with Glossop Old Band’s first visit of 2016. The return of one of Derbyshire’s best known Section Two bands was equally well received by the Boarshurst faithful. Last night, Messrs Tighe and Webb conjured up a fine and varied programme.

How Three Was a Magic Number for Boarshurst Silver Band

The 2016 National Championships of Great Britain

The previous weekend’s National Championships of Great Britain at The Centaur, in Cheltenham Racecourse, was a good one for Yorkshire’s brass bands with top Second and Third Section honours. Taking the Second Section title was Stannington Band led by Derek Renshaw. In the Third Section, it was Crofton Silver Band led by Dean Jones. Glossop Old Band: Sunday Brass at the Boarshurst Band Club

Les, Stephen, and a pretty good band too

In the last five years, we have been happy to see the return of Glossop Old Band to the contesting scene. What a return they have had as well; in their short time, they have climbed up to Section Two. Last night’s [15 May] concert was proof that Glossop Old Band could be on the way up. On the way back to being one of Derbyshire’s leading brass bands.
