For some people, the 1st August is Yorkshire Day, a celebration of all things to all Yorkshire folk. For example, its cultural tapestry, scenery and fine food. In Greater Manchester, it is observed by Saddleworth folk with festivals and white roses. It kicks off Saddleworth’s summertime events like the Rushcart Festival and (unofficially this year) the Yanks Weekend.

It is 90 years ago since Stalybridge saw its last trams. Back then, the trams were facing competition with local express bus routes. In 1931, the Stalybridge, Hyde, Mossley, and Dukinfield Joint Tramway and Electricity Board began to phase out trams and replace most of its tram cars with buses.

Tameside (Ashton-under-Lyne) Interchange Works: Temporary Stand Changes

Plans to move Tameside buses closer to trams now a step closer

From the 24 June 2018, Stand N will be no more. Therefore the 345 service (as seen above) will move to R stand on Gas Street, opposite the (now closed) rear entrance of Boots The Chemist.

As soon as the last bus leaves Ashton-under-Lyne bus station on Saturday 23 June 2018, Stands J to R will be closed to make way for Ashton Bus Station Mark IV.

Now You Know What I Did This Summer (2015 Edition)

The second biggest operator in Tynemouth: Arriva Northumberland, represented by a Wright StreetLite at its terminus by Tynemouth Park. Later, this would return to Newcastle-upon-Tyne on a westbound journey of the 306 service.

Only last week, courtesy of National Holidays, I had the joy of a five day holiday in County Durham and Northumberland. This included excursions to Beamish Open Air Museum, Holy Island and the city of Durham.
