Full Size Automated Bus Begins Depot Trials

Stagecoach Manchester tests the world’s first autonomous bus at Sharston depot

For several years, Greater Manchester has been at the forefront of revolutionary developments in passenger transport. Almost 50 years ago, the Chloride battery bus – an all battery powered single decker bus – led to today’s electric vehicles.

Yesterday, as seen on North West Tonight and in the Manchester Evening News, Stagecoach Manchester tested Alexander Dennis’ new creation: an autonomous version of an Enviro200 single decker bus. This was also made possible with custom made software by Fusion Processing.

Brinnington’s New Buses Officially Named by Local Schoolchildren

Stagecoach Manchester’s new Enviro 200s handed over and named

Stockport schoolchildren were all smiles last Tuesday as they helped Stagecoach Manchester to officially name and launch six new single decker buses, all of which will be serving Brinnington’s 325 route.

The pupils from Hillcrest Grammar, Adswood Primary and St. Thomas’ Primary schools entered a competition to name the new vehicles. They were joined by Christopher Bowles, Stagecoach Manchester’s Managing Director, and Philip Harding, local councillor and Stockport’s committee member of Transport for Greater Manchester. Ashton Depot’s New Enviro 200s

New buses formally handed over to Ashton depot by Shadow Transport Minister

Almost a week after entering service, Stagecoach in Manchester’s new buses have made their presence known on the 346 and 347 routes. Prior to then, they were formally handed over to Ashton depot by Shadow Transport Minister and Denton and Reddish MP Andrew Gwynne.
