Christmas 2019 and New Year’s Day 2020 Trains and Trams in Tameside

Christmas and New Year train and tram service information for passengers in Tameside and surrounding area

Ladies and gentlemen, following on from East of the M60’s look at Yuletide buses in the Tameside area, we turn our attention to local trains and trams.

With the trains, nothing too out of the ordinary. This year, there are no engineering works are planned on the Huddersfield line, though it is worth visiting the Transpennine Express and Northern websites for further details. Extra trams will be calling at the Etihad Campus stop for Manchester City’s home games with Sheffield United (29 December) and Everton (New Year’s Day).

Par for most Sundays in the Tameside area is the operation of bus replacement services between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge. Due to Northern’s entrenched rostering issues in the North West, the 29 December may be no exception to that rule. Likewise with recent service cuts on the Manchester Piccadilly – Hadfield line, slashed from half hourly to hourly on Sundays for similar reasons.
