Dashing through the snow, on a bus down Chorlton way…

From the World Freight Terminal to Piccadilly Gardens, Stagecoach Santas will be entertaining passengers on some of its services across South Manchester. In the run up to Christmas, they will be performing a selection of festive classics to raise money for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Stagecoach’s own father and son team, Rob and Matt Stennings, have already been out singing for passengers alongside Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital mascot, Humphrey. Generous passengers have made donations, raising money for the hospital at a notoriously expensive time of year.

The Stagecoach Santas will be performing every weekday up to and including Christmas Eve across services in Wythenshawe, Chorlton, Sharston and Manchester city centre.

Rob and Matt also perform separately in elderly care homes across the region. They will sing classic Christmas songs like Jingle Bells, Silent Night and Santa Claus is Coming to Town. All money donated on the bus will go to Stagecoach Manchester’s charity of the year. Passengers have also been encouraged to share images of the singing Santas using the #StagecoachSantas hashtag.

Stagecoach Manchester managing director Elisabeth Tasker said: “The hospital works tirelessly to provide the best possible care and treatment for poorly children in our region and hopefully our Stagecoach Santas can help to spread some festive cheer and raise some much needed funds in the process.

“We know purse strings are tight this time of year but we are always encouraged by the generosity of our staff and customers and hope that Rob and Matt’s performance will see as many people as possible donate aboard our selected services.”

Joel Oxberry, the Corporate Fundraising Manager at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity is delighted to be Stagecoach’s chosen charity partner, and the Stagecoach Santas are an example of how businesses can make these charitable endeavours fun and inclusive for staff and customers alike.

“We hope that these pursuits will not only raise a few smiles, but much needed donations for poorly children under our care at such a special time of year.”

Before we go, our friends at Stagecoach Manchester have given us this video clip of singing santas. Sit back, relax, pour yourself a glass of Sherry or Vimto and enjoy.
