Oldham and Saddleworth Bus Service Changes, Summer 2017

Summer bussing, slightest of changes

Not in the Summer Timetable: the 409 service, loading at Ashton-under-Lyne bus station.

For once, a quiet set of service changes affecting Oldham and Saddleworth bus passengers. This time, just a few tweaks to the summer timetables. Some more First Greater Manchester routes will be seeing a few tweaks, including the 58 and 81A.

This year, there will be no changes to the summer timetable of the 409 route.

Summer Timetables

The following Oldham and Saddleworth area services will operate summer timetables, taking advantage of the reduced traffic volumes in the school holidays.

  • 58: Rochdale – Shaw – Oldham – Chadderton – Middleton (First Greater Manchester);
  • 59: Rushcroft – Oldham – Middleton – Heaton Park – Manchester [Piccadilly Gardens] (First Greater Manchester);
  • 76: Oldham – Hollins – Limeside – Failsworth – Manchester [Piccadilly Gardens] (Stagecoach Manchester);
  • 81: Derker – Oldham – Butler Green – Moston – Manchester [Piccadilly Gardens] (First Greater Manchester);
  • 81A: Holts Estate – Lees – Oldham – Moston – Manchester [Piccadilly Gardens] (First Greater Manchester);
  • 83: Sholver – Oldham – Hollinwood – Failsworth – Manchester [Piccadilly Gardens] (First Greater Manchester);
  • 180: Manchester [Piccadilly Gardens] – Failsworth – Hollinwood – Oldham – Lees – Greenfield (First Greater Manchester);
  • 184: Manchester [Piccadilly Gardens] – Oldham – Lees – Uppermill – Diggle – Huddersfield (First Greater Manchester);
  • 425: Fitton Hill – Hathershaw – Oldham – Glodwick – Holts Estate (First Greater Manchester).

Whatever Next?

Expect to see a few more changes around September. One proposal that has been suggested is the replacement of Sunday 353s and 354s with a new 355 route from Ashton-under-Lyne to Denshaw. One drawback will be its proposed frequency of every two hours. All will be revealed once we find out.

  1. Looks like that introduction of a 355 route is indeed going ahead with the addition of the number to all bus stop flags between Denshaw and Ashton.

    Whilst residents on Mossley Road between Grasscroft and Top Mossley lose their Sunday service, Denshaw, Delph and Dobcross will see an improve Sunday service (the first and latter villages having had no Sunday service to Ashton for ages).
