With only a few bands to go till the end of the 2015 contest, here’s Rainford Band playing their contest march outside Thornton Square, Brighouse.

It was almost doomed to failure. By 0125, distraught to find only rail replacement buses on the Standedge line and the ‘joys’ of an overpriced off-peak return on a bus older than anything First Greater Manchester have in regular service.

Oldham and Saddleworth Bus Service Changes, Summer 2015: Reconstruction Time Again

Simplification order of the day for local services

  • X80 buses revert to 180 journeys;
  • Cuts to 81, 81A and 425 services;
  • S&S Travel Services loses 418 service.

Soon to be the ex-X80: First Greater Manchester’s flirtation with the X80 limited stop service ends on the 19 July. Thankfully with the 180 reverting to being a full time service.

Tameside Bus Service Changes, Summer 2015: Goodnight from Broadway?

Odd tweaks though operator changes

  • First Greater Manchester’s Dukinfield garage loses evening journeys;
  • Usual Summer running times on trunk routes.

All White on the Denton Front: white seems to be the dominant colour on the 345 service, as depicted by MCT Travel’s Enviro200 seen in Ashton bus station. Checkmate Coaches will return to the fold at the end of this month taking over First Greater Manchester’s morning journeys.

The biggest story behind this summer’s service changes is the retreat of First Greater Manchester’s evening journeys from their Dukinfield garage. Shortly after April’s service changes there was rumours that the Pioneer Depot Team were pulling out of post-7pm journeys.
