In Pictures: The Mercian Regiment’s Homecoming

King Street, Dukinfield, 10 June 2013

The people of Dukinfield turned out in great numbers to see the homecoming of The Mercian Regiment. They were led out from White Bridge at 12 midday by Colonel Adrian Walton. Some residents along King Street draped British and English flags from their windows.

Most of the crowds were centred around Dukinfield Town Hall. This included the schoolchildren of Clarendon Fields Primary School, who were given time off from their lessons.

At 12.25 pm on Dukinfield Town Hall steps, Tameside MBC Chief Executive Stephen Pleasant presented The Freedom of the Borough scroll to Colonel Adrian Walton, on behalf of The Mercian Regiment. They were led out by the Royal Logistics Corps.
