Steve Burr appointed as new ‘Bridge manager.
It was announced yesterday that former Northwich Victoria manager Steve Burr signed a two year contract at Stalybridge Celtic.
The Cheshire side’s replacement for John Reed (now linked with the vacancy at Worksop Town) left Northwich, following a disagreement with the board over team selection. Burr has had success in taking Northwich Victoria back to the Nationwide Conference National and in winning the Northern Premier League with Hucknall Town. Last season, he took Northwich Victoria to the semi finals of the FA Trophy.
Burr has also had success as a player for Hednesford Town (where he later became player-coach) and Macclesfield Town - where he played under ex-Stalybridge Celtic manager Peter Wragg.
The appointment was announced at a supporters’ forum in the sponsor’s lounge yesterday evening. This included a question and answer session with the new manager, and new chairman and vice chairman Rob Gorski and Syd White. Over a hundred ‘Bridge fans and vice presidents were present with nearly twenty persons forced to stand up.
